Laura got her start in radio at the ripe old age of…..8. After recording her first commercial at KLUR, she broke the news to her parents that no, in fact she was not going to be a rocket scientist, but wanted to play music and talk for a living. Her Mom fainted and Dad, well, he freaked out, to say the least(he wanted his kid to be an accountant). After they fully recovered from the shock of her decision, Laura took off for the bright lights and big city of Dallas. For over 20 years, she schmoozed the right people and made the rounds at a few radio stations as well as the world’s largest radio network where she was heard via satellite on over 200 stations across the country and all US military bases through Armed Forces Radio. Laura considers playing music for the troops and bringing them a little piece of home while fighting, her contribution to the war effort.
She’s a Wichita Falls native and 1990 graduate of Old High. Since moving home in 2014, Laura’s reconnected with many old friends and even found the love of her life….gearhead Ernie McConnell of Lone Star Muscle Cars. In early 2020, they snuck off to the Florida Keys and on February 29, Laura happily became Mrs Gearhead! Together, they love their dogs, live music shows, vacationing(beaches are their favorite) and of course, going to car shows and cruises. Laura helps Ernie at the shop and for all her hard work, someday Ernie’s gonna build her a hot rod.. a classic ’73 Panther Pink ‘Cuda.
Laura keeps you rockin’ during your workday with music trivia and she hosts the Classic Rock Cafe during your lunch hour from 12-1, so message her with your requests!
