The City of Wichita Falls Public Works and the Wichita Falls -Wichita Co. Public Health District teamed up to warn residents of a rare waterborne disease, Primary Amebic Meningoencephalitis.

The amoeba lives in muddy, stagnant, warm water and enters the body through nasal passages. Children are highly susceptible to this disease and the majority of cases are fatal.
